  The following is the procedures that need to be followed in order to uninstall the system, Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal. apply some rust penetrant on the exhaust pipe and manifold fasteners, let it to work for approximately 10 minutes; were some of the fastener very hard to remove, reapply penetrant to avoid brittle metal. Time, 0.34 Exclusive of tools Demate the coil and take off the spark plug wires while numbering them to prevent confusion, if required, raise the car and unfasten the exhaust pipe from the manifold. For the left manifold, take out the oil dipstick tube bracket and in case the power steering pump hoses hinder removal and when not, cap them to prevent dirt entry. Disassemble the manifold from the cylinder head by unbolting the two units as provided in the specifications. For the right manifold, remove the heater hose bracket and the hoses; the bolts hold the manifold and it can be removed. For installation, first, remove dirt and oil by scraper and solvent from mating surfaces of the cylinder head, manifold and exhaust pipe. These engines may be put back together without gaskets if the surfaces are flat and not damaged; other wise a gasket or machining may be needed. Use graphite grease on the area of the cylinder head that interfaces with the manifold, put the manifold in place and then fasten the bolts in a symmetric manner to the required pound force. Screw in the exhaust pipes to the manifold tightly but in equal turns for mounting strength. To complete the installation follow the removal steps in the reverse, if the heater hoses were removed during the procedure then the coolant must be replenished and finally the engine must be operated to check for exhaust leaks.
