Mercury F8RZ-7H103-AA Sensor Assy - Engine Speed

This procedure is only applicable to those models with an automatic transaxle. Leading the process, ensure that you remove the cable that is connected to the negative terminal of the battery. You shall loosen the lugs nuts of the left front wheel, lift the car and put it on the jack stands and then proceed to remove the left front wheel. Next, unscrew the lower left splash shield and you will find the TSS sensor on left side of the transaxle. In order to remove the TSS sensor the electrical connector should be disconnected and the sensor mounting bolt should be removed. Put a drain pan below the TSS sensor to capture the automatic transmission fluid spill; thereafter, loosen the mounting bolt and the sensor. Make sure that the old TSS sensor O-ring is also removed before installing another O-ring on the TSS sensor; this must be done whether the TSS used is a new or a re-used one. Installation is the exact opposite of removal with the TSS sensor mounting bolt and LH wheel lug nuts being turned to the correct torque. After reconnecting the battery the PCM has to learn the new strategy for idle and fuel trim in order to have good driveability and performance.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum driveability and performance.
