    To check the lower balljoint on 1970 through 1979 models, the vehicle should be raised with a floor jack under the lower arm to unload the lower balljoints. A dial indicator is used to check axial and radial movement of the wheel, and if either exceeds specified limits, the balljoint should be replaced.
