If the caliper piston is too worn, it should be depressed into its bore to clear the ridge around the disc's circumference.

Remove the master cylinder cap, check the fluid level, and remove about half of the fluid. Then, remove the inner shoe hold-down clips, outer brake pad retaining clips, caliper locating pins, and upper stabilizer. Lift the caliper assembly from the anchor plate, remove the outer pad, and depress the piston into the caliper with a C-clamp.

Use a C-clamp and the old brake pad to depress the caliper piston fully into its bore.
