Circuit protection is provided by fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links, and the fuse and relay box is found inside the vehicle beneath the right kick panel. Each of these fuses protects a particular circuit, and the name of the circuits together with other details is marked on the cover of the fuse panel in addition to a reference guide to these fuses and relays. Miniature fuses with blade type ends are employed and inserted in the fuse block therefore they can be easily replaced without requiring tools. If a component does not work then it is advised to check the fuse first and to place the test light at the terminal tips; when there is power at one side but the other side lacks it, then the fuse is blown and it can be visibly checked. Blown fuses are as noted earlier should be replaced by the right kind of fuses because it is dangerous to have a wrong fuse in the circuit as the requirement could vary from one circuit to another. If the fuse is replaced and it blows out shortly there after, then the actual problem for the blow out, for instance a short circuit attributed to a spoilt wire, should be fixed before the next replacement. There are three fusible links between the battery and the alternator which are hidden under a plastic cover around the battery; the links melt to provide a break in the circuit if the electrical load becomes high. Again, with thick insulation it might even look like fusible links have the heavier wire gauge, but in fact they are even more slender than the wires they are designed to safeguard. In case a fusible link melts, it can technically be replaced with another link of the same gauge; however, at the time of writing, individual fusible links were out of the market, and so the whole cable between the battery and the alternation is replaced. However, if a fusible link has been seen to have melted, then it is important to find out why before asking for replacement links.
