    Q:
How to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor on the Output Shaft of a Ford Escape? Posted by Customer
    A:
It is used only for models with an automatic transaxle. To carry out this, start by removing the cable which connects it to the negative post of the battery. Subsequently, lift the front-side of the car and place it on supports using jackstands. Lower left splash shield: unbolt first. Find the OSS sensor mounted on the left hand side of the transaxle and snap off the electrical connection on it. OSS sensor retaining bolt is to be unbolted and OSS sensor is to be extracted. Make sure to take out the prior O-ring of the OSS sensor and then properly dispose its usage and in its place, use a new O-ring while fixing. The process of installation is the opposite of that for removal, with emphasis to the correct torque applied to the retaining bolt. Upon connecting the battery again, the PCM is forced to learn the best way on how to return back to its normal idle and fuel trim for driveability and performance to function properly.
