Replacement of the parking brake shoes involves washing down the brake assembly with brake cleaner, removing the front hold-down clip and the rear hold-down clip, removing the parking brake shoe adjuster, removing the lower return spring, spreading the parking brake shoes and lifting off the parking brake shoe assembly, transferring the upper return spring to the new shoes, lubricating the shoe contact points on the backing plate with high-temperature brake grease and the rear shoe hold-down clip, spreading the lower ends of the shoes apart and installing the parking brake shoe assembly, installing the lower return spring, installing the front shoe hold-down clip and the adjuster (making sure the star wheel of the adjuster is pointing towards the front of the vehicle).
