    Q:
How to remove and install the ignition coil on Ford Mustang? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For the 4.0L V6 engine, disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil, then disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolts and take the coil out from the valve cover, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the 4.6L V8 and all 2011 and later models, this procedure applies to all ignition coils. On 3.7L V6 engines, the upper intake manifold must be removed to access the ignition coils on the right-hand side. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil by depressing the release tab and pulling off the connector. If removing more than one ignition coil, mark each electrical connector with its corresponding coil to avoid mix-ups during reassembly. Remove the ignition coil hold-down bolt, then grasp the ignition coil firmly and pull it straight up. Inspect the condition of the rubber boot that insulates the connection between the coil high-tension terminal and the spark plug; if it is cracked, torn, or otherwise deteriorated, replace it. To disconnect the boot, simply pull it off the coil, ensuring not to remove the spring that carries the current to the plug. Prior to installing the coil, coat the interior of the rubber boot with silicone dielectric compound, and installation is otherwise the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to inspect and replace Ignition Coil and spark plug wires on Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
First of all, apply the silicone dielectric compound inside each boot after detaching a spark plug wire. Replace and check for spark plug wires while you're installing new spark plugs. First off, watch for damage to the wires as the engine runs, starting with cylinder number one. The other wires should be inspected and made sure they are well fastened. Also, clean them up and see if there are any cracks on the coil packs or carbon tracking problems.

    Q:
How to check and replace the electronic integrated (El) ignition system and Ignition Coil on Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check the EI ignition system, disconnect the coil's electrical connector(s) with the ignition off and use an ohmmeter to measure resistance. If not, replace the coil. For this, disconnect the battery's negative cable, the ignition coil electrical connector(s), and remove the spark plug wires. Remove the ignition coil from the engine mounting bracket. During installation, apply silicone dielectric compound inside the rubber boot before inserting each spark plug wire into the ignition coil.

    Q:
How do you check the electronic integrated (El) ignition system for proper operation for the 2007 Ford Expedition? Posted by Customer
    A:
To check the electronic integrated (El) ignition system, start by disconnecting the electrical connector(s) from the coil with the ignition off. Then, use an ohmmeter to measure the resistance between the coil positive (+) terminal and each negative (-) terminal. The resistance should be the same for each check and should match the specifications listed. Next, connect the ohmmeter between the secondary terminals of each coil pack, which are paired according to the companion cylinders. Again, the resistance should match the specifications. If the resistance is not correct, the coil should be replaced.
