Q:
How to remove and replace the PCV valve in Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
A:
1.5L, 1.6L, and 2.0L models require the removal of the intake manifold and starter (for 1.6L models) before removing the oil vent separator mounting bolts and gasket. The engine block should be cleaned and a new gasket installed before securely tightening the oil vent separator bolts. For 2.3L and 2.5L models, the PCV valve is located under the intake manifold on the front side of the engine block. The intake manifold should be removed, and the PCV hose should be disconnected from the valve. The PCV valve can then be pulled out of the crankcase vent oil separator. V6 models, specifically 2.7L and 3.5L engines, have the PCV valve located on the rear valve cover. The cable from the negative battery terminal should be disconnected, followed by the electrical connector from the PCV valve. The PCV valve can then be turned counterclockwise and removed from the valve cover. It is important to note that the PCV valve must be replaced every time it is removed, as the locking mechanism is damaged during removal. When installing the new PCV valve, ensure it is oriented correctly so that the terminal faces toward the wiring harness to avoid having to replace it again.
