Q:
How to remove and install A/C Expansion Valve on Ford Taurus? Posted by Customer
A:
Have the air conditioning system dis-charged by a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning shop before proceeding. Remove the strut tower brace mounting bolts and remove the brace. On 2007 and earlier models, remove the strut tower brace bracket bolts and remove the bracket. On 2008 models, remove the evaporator inlet line fitting bracket bolt. On 2008 models, remove the evaporator inlet and outlet line mounting nuts and disconnect the lines. Remove the auxiliary evaporator inlet and outlet line mounting nuts (if equipped), disconnect the lines, and position them aside. Remove the A/C Expansion Valve fitting nuts and disconnect the refrigerant lines from the A/C Expansion Valve at the firewall. Remove the two bolts securing the valve, then remove the valve. Note: Remove and discard all O-rings from all disconnected refrigerant lines. Replace all refrigerant line O-rings and lubricate the new ones with refrigerant oil prior to installation. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
