Q:
How do I remove the thermostat and thermostat housing? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the thermostat and thermostat housing, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Drain the cooling system and remove the engine cover on four-cylinder models. Locate the thermostat housing and loosen the hose clamp to detach the lower coolant hose. If necessary, replace the thermostat housing cover. On four-cylinder models, disconnect the heater hose and remove the crash support bracket nuts and thermostat bolts to detach the housing from the engine. On 2.7L V6 models, support the engine from below and remove the right front engine mount and bracket. Remove the thermostat cover by removing the fasteners. On 3.5L and 3.7L V6 engines, remove the air filter housing and duct, and then remove the coolant inlet cover. Remove the thermostat and O-ring. Clean the sealing surfaces and inspect the hoses. To install, use a new gasket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Reattach the radiator hoses, heater hoses, and expansion tank hose. Refill the cooling system, bleed the air, and check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.
