The polyethylene fuel tank cannot be repaired, as there is no scientifically proven procedure for fixing the leaking or damaged fuel tanks; thus, the only available solution is replacement. And while dismantling the fuel tank with the vehicle, it should be placed at a location which has no sparks or flames because the fumes can easily ignite particularly where there are natural gas appliances in the garage such as pilot lights which may cause explosions. Similarly, whenever the service involves steam cleaning of the fuel tank, the vehicle's vapor valve assembly must be replaced and all grommets and seals replaced for immunity against possible leakage.
