To remove the rear spring, prop up the car so that the rear wheels are off the ground but the weight of the car is still on the rear springs, then support the car properly on jack stands and then use a jack to support the rear axle, do not attempt any work under a car supported only by a jack. The next step is to unscrew the nut and bolt that holds the lower end of the shock absorber to the spring plate and compress the shock so that it is out of the way, take off the nuts from the U-bolt or bar along with the Li-bolt and spring plate. Subsequently, there are bolts and nuts holding the shackle assembly at the rear of the spring and if the spring is pivoted down on the floor it can be removed while the spring hanger bolt and nut of the front part has to be unscrewed. Check the spring eye bushings for signs of wear or distortion, and when found to be worn or bad, should be replaced by dealership service department or a shop that is equipped to work on them. For installation position the spring in the rear shackle, insert the bolt and nut; do not overtighten it at this point. Then the spring has to be fixated to the front bracket and when doing it tighten the bolt and the nut to be just tightened by fingers only. Place the rear shackle on the frame and put on the bolt and nut and use only hand-tightening. Next the axle is positioned on the spring and the spring seat is fitted into it in such a way that the end of the spring tie-bolt fits in the hole in the spring before Li-bolts and nuts are fitted and tightened just enough by hand. Then finally, lower the vehicle to the ground so that the weight is on the tyres and then fasten the spring bracket bolt and nut, shackle bolts and nuts and the U-bolt nuts in a crossing pattern with the required torque.
