- Q:I suspect I have a bad Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (the one that feeds the computer). My understanding is the one I am after has two leads/wires on the plug. The only one I can locate has one lead and I suspect it is the temp gauge sender. I have a 1997 Mercury Sable Wagon (LS) with a 3.0 Duratec engine. Your listing does not have a picture so I'm not sure if it the correct one let alone where it is located. Can you help before I place the order?? The gauge was working fine. The car cranks but won't start. I'm thinking if the sensor is bad the computer thinks the engine temperature is out of limits therefor won't let the engine start.
