    Q:
How to remove and install a CHT sensor in Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Four-cylinder models are equipped with a CHT sensor, which monitors the temperature of the metal cylinder head. This should not be confused with an ECT sensor, which monitors the temperature of the engine coolant. To remove the CHT sensor on 2.3L models, the alternator air inlet duct needs to be removed. On 1.5L and 1.6L engines, the air intake duct and turbocharger inlet and outlet pipes should be removed. The rubber weather cover should be pulled back from the CHT sensor electrical connector and disconnected. The CHT sensor can then be unscrewed from the cylinder head. When installing the CHT sensor, it should be tightened. V6 models, specifically 2010 and later models, are also equipped with a CHT sensor. On 3.0L engines, the CHT sensor is screwed into the left end of the rear cylinder head. On 3.5L engines, it is located in the valley below the lower intake manifold and screwed into the rear cylinder head. On 2.7L models, the two fasteners on the engine cover should be removed to access the CHT sensor in the front-bank cylinder head. The electrical connector should be disconnected and the CHT sensor unscrewed and discarded. For 3.0L and 3.5L models, the battery and battery tray should be removed on 3.0L models, and the lower intake manifold should be removed on 3.5L models. The CHT sensor electrical connector should be disconnected and the CHT sensor unscrewed and removed. When installing the CHT sensor, it should be tightened.
