Q:
How to replace the CHT sensor and ECT sensor in Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
A:
Four cylinder models are equipped with an Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor and a Cylinder Head Temperature (CHT) sensor. The ECT sensor functions as the coolant temperature sending unit for the temperature gauge and the CHT sensor functions as the temperature sensor for the PCM. To replace the CHT sensor, drain the cooling system. On 2014 and earlier models, the ECT sensor is located on the left rear corner of the cylinder head, while on 2015 and later models it is located on the coolant outlet housing on the back side of the engine. On 2015 and later models, remove the air cleaner outlet duct and the purge valve/tube retaining bracket bolts, and move the purge assembly out of the way if necessary. Disconnect the electrical connector to the sensor, remove the retaining clip, and remove the sensor, discarding the O-ring. Installation is the reverse of removal, using a new O-ring. Refill the cooling system.
