Q:
How to remove and install a cooling module and Radiator on Ford Edge equipped with a cooling module? Posted by Customer
A:
When dealing with 2015 and later models equipped with a cooling module, which includes the radiator, air conditioning condenser, cooling fan shroud assembly, Charge Air Cooler (CAC) on turbocharged models, and the transaxle cooler, it is essential to have the air conditioning system discharged by a licensed technician before beginning the removal process. Start by draining the cooling system and then proceed to remove the front bumper cover and active shutter grille, as well as the air cleaner housing and duct. Disconnect and remove the upper radiator hose and the electrical connector to the cooling fans. Remove the transaxle cooler line bracket from the left corner of the radiator and disconnect the transaxle cooler lines to the condenser. On 3.5L engine models, disconnect the transaxle cooler quick-disconnect lines from the by-pass valve and cooler. If it's a turbocharged model, follow additional steps to remove the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) inlet and outlet pipes. Squeeze the quick-release tabs on the coolant expansion tank line and disconnect it from the radiator. Pull the lower radiator hose spring clip down and disconnect the lower radiator hose. Remove the cooling module mounting bolts from the lower radiator support, and with the help of an assistant, remove the cooling module from the front of the vehicle. For installation, reverse the removal procedure, ensuring that all components are properly tightened and connected. Fill the system with the correct mixture of antifreeze and check the automatic transaxle fluid levels. Start the engine, check for leaks, and have the air conditioning system recharged by the shop that discharged it.
