To reassemble the strut assembly, the rubber bumper and dust cover should be installed. The coil spring should be placed onto the strut, ensuring correct positioning onto the lower spring seat. The upper bearing assembly should be installed, aligning the notch on the bearing assembly with the clevis on the bottom of the strut. The damper rod nut should be installed and tightened to the specified torque. Finally, the spring compressor tool can be removed, and the strut/spring assembly can be installed.

After replacing the shock absorbers, remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle to complete the process.

To check the shock absorbers, park the vehicle on level ground, turn off the engine, and set the parking brake. Push down at one corner of the vehicle and release it while observing the movement of the body. It should stop moving and come to rest in a level position within one or two bounces. If the vehicle continues to move up and down or fails to return to its original position, this may indicate worn or weak shock absorbers.

Remove the ABS harness and sensor, if equipped, as well as the brake line bracket and stabilizer bar link.
