- Q:How do you remove the steering column? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the steering column, start by parking the vehicle with the wheels straight ahead and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the steering wheel, knee bolster, panel reinforcement, and steering column covers. Disconnect the electrical connectors for the steering column harness. Mark the steering column shaft in relation to the intermediate shaft coupler and remove the coupler pinch bolt. Remove the steering column mounting nuts, lower the column, and separate the intermediate shaft from the steering shaft. To install the steering column, guide it into position, connect the intermediate shaft, and install the mounting fasteners without tightening them yet. Install the coupler pinch bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. Finally, tighten the column mounting fasteners to the specified torque and complete the installation in reverse order.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
