First, for example, the assembly and fastening of the accelerator linkage shield, which is provided over the accelerator cable linkage, must be loosened. This is done by unclipping the accelerator cable from the throttle lever ball stud at the throttle body using a hairpin clip. Then, unbolt the cable from the bracket on the intake manifold, however, depending on the later models the position of the bracket may be different. Locating the accelerator pedal from inside the vehicle, unscrew the cables end that is fixed atop the accelerator pedal. Open the retaining clips at the dash panel and pass the cable through the dash panel to the engine area. To install it back reverse the order you used to remove it and be certain not to allow any wires or hoses to touch any part of the accelerator controls that is moving. This should be checked with the engine off and the accelerator pedal firmly pushed to the floor before starting the engine. After bringing the engine to life inspect the throttle operation and a similar operation when the accelerator pedal is released normalising the rpm.

Remove accelerator linkage shield, disconnect cable from throttle lever ball stud, detach cable from intake manifold bracket (location may vary on later models), remove cable end from accelerator pedal, release retaining clips at dash panel and push cable through into engine compartment. Installation is reverse of removal, ensuring no wiring or hoses touch moving parts. Test throttle for smooth operation and engine returning to idle when foot is removed.
