Given its weight and how hard it is to set up, you need at least two people to correctly install or take out the bumper for vehicles built after 2001. Start by taking out the plate light attachment from the bumper. Keep one person holding the bumper as you undo the nuts and wire clip on both sides that attach the bumper to the frame. Keep any spacers out of the way for the reinstall later. First, take off the bumper's brackets, stone guard, and step plate, only if needed. Before replacing the bumper, be sure to take back off the brackets, stone guard, and any other parts from one bumper and put them on the new one. Begin by placing the step pad by locating the center hole of the bumper. Install fasteners loosely, adjust the bumper's position to keep 3/4-inch separation between the body and bumper, and tighten the fasteners firmly after each adjustment. Use a socket set to take out the screws behind each wheel from the splash shield, then drill and remove two bolts after that. Lift up the bumper cover, taking out the rubber footpads on either side first, and unfasten the opposite end. Install by flipping everything back as you took it apart.
