To remove the upper control arm, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and then remove the upper ball joint-to-spindle bolt and nut, separating the spindle from the upper control arm. Support the spindle with wire or rope. Break off the tabs on the upper control arm pivot bolts and remove the control arm bolts. If the pivot bushings are worn out, take the control arm to a repair shop to have them replaced. To remove the lower control arm, loosen the ball joint retaining nut and separate the lower control arm from the spindle using a ball joint separator tool. Mark the position of the camber adjustment cam to the chassis and remove the nut attaching the tension strut to the control arm. Remove the shock absorber lower mounting bolt and nut, and then remove the pivot bolt and nut to detach the control arm. If the pivot bushing is worn out, have it replaced at a repair shop. To install, reverse the removal procedure, ensuring the suspension is at normal ride height before tightening the pivot fasteners. Finally, have the front end alignment checked at a service department or alignment shop.
