How to install a clutch master cylinder on Mercury Mariner?

For 2005 and newer models, open the connection between the brake and clutch master cylinders by removing the clutch hose. Then put seals over both ends of the hose and master cylinder port to block any fluid leakage. Take out the clutch master cylinder mounting nuts and separate the pushrod from the master cylinder. Fold up some cloths to make a containment pad directly under the clutch master cylinder to collect overflow. Grasp the fluid line connection between master cylinder and fluid line using a flare nut wrench. Disconnect the line, remove the clutch master cylinder, and use plugs to block any openings to keep out contaminants. Installation is the reverse of removal. Pour the right type of brake fluid into the reservoir before finishing the job by bleeding the system.
