The Lincoln MKZ Brake Backing Plate shields sensitive braking components from road splash and gritty debris for greater stopping assurance. The Brake Backing Plate is manufactured from form-fitted steel and is designed to be fitted directly behind the rotor or drum. While creating a strong barrier, the plate protects the rotor finish. The protector horns keep the pads or shoes ready for instant action. As a result of factory mounting point compatibility, all MKZ groups can swap in their Brake Backing Plate without the need for spacers or risky bends. Early hybrids are included, as are later turbo trims. The lightweight disc model screws into the knuckle and locks out salt from polished wheels with unsightly stains, while the heavy drum version under the rear foundation supports cylinders and parking hardware, delivering the same rock solid defense from the Brake Backing Plate. This durability helps reduce the risk of expensive rotor damage and extends the life of the pads to maintain the premium Lincoln sedan's calm pedal feel. The Brake Backing Plate has a drum configuration that helps hold shoes square. The thicker steel construction allows force to be spread evenly and quietly across thousands of MKZ miles. A secondary Brake Backing Plate surface helps resist warping.
