For 2010 and earlier models, begin by removing the steering column cover screws, then take off the cover and opening reinforcement. On 1997 and earlier models, the steering wheel should be removed. If present, unscrew the tilt lever, squeezing the top and bottom of the tilt lever collar to detach it. Next, remove the screws from the underside of the lower column shroud and lower the shroud away from the column, noting that on vehicles with automatic transmission, the shift lever may need to be moved. Lift the upper shroud half off the column, and remember that installation follows the reverse order of removal. For 2011 models, start by removing the key lock cylinder. If equipped, unscrew the tilt lever, squeezing the collar to remove it. Then, take out the cover mounting screws from below the steering column and remove both the upper and lower covers, with installation again being the reverse of removal.
