On 2008 and later models, the manufacturer advises that all suspension and steering system fasteners requiring specific torque should be replaced with new ones whenever removed, excluding the subframe bolts. To remove the rear suspension coil spring, detach the parking brake cable guide from the tie-bar and pull the cable clear. Install a brake hose clamp to the rear flexible brake hose, then remove the rear brake drum or disc assembly, and for models with rear disc brakes, take off the rotor dust shield. Unscrew and remove the bolt securing the lower part of the rear shock absorber to the trailing arm assembly, and if applicable, release the ABS wheel sensor lead from the trailing arm. Next, unscrew and remove the front and rear lower arm bolts from the trailing arm assembly, followed by the upper arm bolt. Unbolt the trailing arm front mounting bracket from the underbody by removing the two front mounting bolts, and withdraw the assembly from under the vehicle. For installation, reverse the removal procedure, delaying full tightening of all mounting bolts until the suspension design height setting procedure is completed, and bleed the brake hydraulic system.
