How to remove and install Brake Caliper on Ford Explorer?

Before starting work, lock the backup brake and block both front wheels. First, loosen the wheel lug nuts. Then lift and support your vehicle with jackstands, using tire jacks. Remove the wheel. Turn the brake hose banjo bolt counterclockwise and pull off the hose from the caliper. As part of replacing brake pads, move the caliper away from the steering knuckle (front) or torque plate (rear). Put the new sealing washers on the brake hose and attach it to the caliper. Tighten the banjo bolt correctly. Pad replacement requires brake bleeding when you undo or remove the banjo bolt, but you don't need to bleed if you only detached the caliper to make room for other repairs. Reinstall the wheel, then slowly bring the vehicle back down to the ground, securely tightening all lug nuts. Push and release the brake pedal several times to make sure your pads make contact with the brake disc, and then test your brakes to see if they work as they should before you put the vehicle back into regular use.
