Ford Edge Oxygen Sensor

The Oxygen Sensor in a Ford Edge vehicle is involved in the monitoring of the combustion air/fuel ratio in the engine exhaust while aiming at giving the premier performance and at the same time cutting down on the emissions. An unburned Oxygen Sensor constantly measures the amount of oxygen that has not combusted and compares it with the ambient air and this provides a voltage signal to the engine control computer to correct the mixture. Ford Edge Oxygen Sensor contains the sensing element that is made of zirconium dioxide and platinum coating on it and the casing includes ceramic and steel used to make the sensor. These sensors function at high temperatures and are provided with a heater usually to make the system efficient. Late model Ford Edge vehicles have at least 2 Oxygen Sensors to give proper feed back and to adjust the air/fuel mixture before and after the catalytic converter.
