How to check the motor and transmission mount on the Ford Bronco?

To check the transmission mount, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Insert a large screwdriver or prybar between the transmission extension housing and the frame crossmember and pry up to check for excessive looseness. The transmission should not move significantly away from the insulator. If it does, the mount should be replaced. If the mount is okay, remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle. For early 4WO models, remove the lower insulator retainers and insulators, then remove the insulator bolts. Place a jack under the transmission and raise it enough to remove the upper insulators between the transmission bracket and crossmember. Install new upper insulators with the protruding shoulder facing down through the crossmember. Lower the transmission and install the insulator bolts, tightening the lower insulator retainer assemblies to the specified torque. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle, then test drive to confirm proper operation. For all other models, remove the mount-to-cross-member nuts and mount-to-transmission bolts. Place a jack under the transmission and raise it enough to remove the mount. Install a new mount and lower the transmission enough to start all fasteners hand tight. Remove the jack and tighten the mount fasteners to the specified torque. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
