How to remove and install the exhaust manifold in 4.0L SOHC V6 engine on 2001 Ford Ranger?

To remove the exhaust manifold simply turn of the negative terminal of your car battery then next step is to detach the EGR pipe from the right manifold and EGR valve. Lift the car and support it on jack stands, then remove the exhaust pipe from the manifold(s), so as to have access to the nuts at the exhaust end if necessary. Loosen and then remove the exhaust manifold(s) from the cylinder head; also remove nut securing the engine oil dipstick tube to the left side manifold. When it is a matter of installation, one has to remove all dirt on the mating surfaces of the cylinder head, manifold, and the exhaust pipe using a scraper together with acetone or lacquer thinner. The surfaces of mating components must be flat, and if the manifolds are warped or have been previously damaged, they will have to be machined. Screw in the new gasket to the cylinder head studs, put on the manifold, and tighten the bolts in a sequence and to the prescribed amount of torque. Join the exhaust pipe to the manifold and tighten the connecting nuts in an alternating fashion to the recommended torque. Last but not the least, start the car and look for exhaust 0429152159 leaks.
