How to remove and install the exhaust manifold in diesel engine on 2001 Ford Excursion?

Before removing the left exhaust manifold on the 7.3L engine, one has to remove the air cleaner assembly, and unbolt the exhaust pressure tube if in a 6.0L engine. To get to the proper exhaust manifold, another layer of removal is the automatic transmission dipstick tube and the exhaust pressure tube on 7.3L engines, though the exhaust back pressure sensor line must be unscrewed. Lift the car carefully on axle stands and then unbolt the two nuts and bolts holding the turbo charging exhaust inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold. Then, remove eight exhaust manifold bolts to remove the manifold off of the cylinder head and clean up the surfaces that were on the exhaust manifold and cylinder head. Ensure this check is done with the help of a straight edge and feeler gauge so that the manufacturer specified allowable warpage of the exhaust manifold can be compared. Replace exhaust manifold and fasten the bolts to the recommended torque, then refit the turbocharger exhaust inlet pipe, tightening the nuts/bolts from the center outwards; the #1 hole is slightly smaller in size. At last, the setup must be done in the reverse order of the tear down.
