- Q: How to replace the Motor And Transmission Mount in the automatic transmission on a 1998 Ford Ranger?A: Loosen the nut on the transmission shifter hole and then insert a large screwdriver or pry bar between the transmission extension housing and the crossmember to lift the transmission up, so it doesn't move too far from the mount. In order to remove the mount, the nuts which kept it in contact with the crossmember and the bolts between the mount and the transmission have to be loosened. Jack up the transmission slightly and remove the mount while identifying the holes used in the crossmember so as to align them during a reassembly of the vehicle.
