The Lincoln LS is a luxury sedan, designed by Ford's Lincoln division, that was in production from 1999 to 2006. This four-door, five-passenger vehicle was Lincoln's first rear-wheel-drive sport luxury sedan and was known for its V8 or V6 engines. It shared its Ford DEW98 platform with Jaguar's S-Type and Ford's Thunderbird. The LS featured leather seating surfaces as standard, with options for a wood or leather-wrapped steering wheel, and boasted wood accents in the interior. The standard equipment included power windows, keyless entry door locks, automatic headlights, power heated mirrors, and automatic climate control. Additional options included a six-disc in-dash CD changer, universal garage door opener, and power moonroof. In 2003, the LS underwent a refresh aligning with the company's "Travel Well" campaign, featuring optional HID headlamps, a revised trunk lid, and updated taillights. Powering the vehicle was either a 3.0 L DOHC V6 or a 3.9 L DOHC V8 engine, the latter of which could generate over 87% of its peak torque output at just 2000 rpm, allowing for a 0 to 60mph acceleration time of 6.5 seconds. The model also included a trunk-mounted DVD player with a GPS navigation system. The Lincoln LS's design contributed to its high safety scores, particularly in occupant protection, earning it a "Best Pick" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and placing it among CNBC's "five safest cars of all time." Production of the LS ceased at Ford's Wixom Assembly Plant on April 3, 2006, with around 260,000 units sold.

Lincoln LS owners often report issues related to wear and tear, the most common of which is cooling system failure. This system, crucial for the lifespan of the vehicle's engine, frequently suffers from coolant leaks leading to the constant need for coolant refills and an overheating engine. Fluctuating temperature gauge readings and the Low Coolant Light are indicative of this problem. Checking the thermostat gasket, radiator hose, coolant reservoir, thermostat housing, and thermostat can help diagnose this issue. Engine and suspension problems are also common, with the engine often running roughly due to low oil levels, causing misfires, reduced power, acceleration, and fuel efficiency. The vehicle may also display a tendency to tilt to one side and bounce while driving, accompanied by a burnt oil smell and clunking noises. Such issues suggest the need for a thorough inspection of the trailing arm, coil springs, intake manifold gasket, and valve cover gasket. Regular maintenance of the air filter is also advised for maintaining good air quality inside the vehicle.
