About Lincoln LS

Lincoln LS is a mid-size, rear-wheel drive executive sedan manufactured and marked by Ford Motor Company from 1999 to 2006. The first Lincoln LS was introduced in June 1999 as a 2000 model. Though it did not own a long history, in its time, it still received many awards and recognitions. For instance, in 2000, it was named Motor Trend's Car of the Year as well as nominated for the North American Car of the Year. It had been through one generation but in two phases.
From 2000 to 2002, Lincoln LS had two versions: LS6 and LS8. There were two trim levels available: base LS and LSE (Limited Special Edition). It then was powered by a 3 L 210 hp Jaguar AJ V6 engine with 205 lb of torque fitted along with 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions, 3 L 220 hp Jaguar AJ V6 engine with 215 lb of torque attached to the same 5-speed manual and automatic transmissions and 3.9 L 252 hp Jaguar AJ-V8 engine with 267 lb of torque mated to a 5-speed 5R55N automatic transmission. Then in 2003, it received a major facelift. Though it still got powers from 3.0 L Jaguar AJ V6 and 3.9 L Jaguar AJ-V8 engines, horsepower was increased to 232 and 280 respectively and torque was also added to 220 lb and 286 lb respectively. A new 5-speed 5R55S automatic transmission was introduced as well.

Lincoln LS Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

It is not a strange phenomenon that Lincoln LS starts to have problems if people have driven it for a long time as it is inevitable that some auto parts on it would wear out. For assist other LS driver's to diagnose problems on it, we have listed some most common ones:
First, cooling system failure. Cooling system is one of the most important systems in vehicle, which often has a close relation with the lifespan of the engine. LS drivers found that they had to refill coolants constantly due to coolant leaking, which also caused an overheating engine. What's more, the temperature gauge reading was often very high and changed erratically. Sometimes, the Low Coolant Light would also come on. If same symptoms happen to your Lincoln LS, you can try checking thermostat gasket, radiator hose, coolant reservoir, thermostat housing and thermostat.
Second, suspension and engine had problems. Generally speaking, engine would run roughly due to low engine oil, which caused misfire sometimes and a decrease in power, acceleration, and fuel economy are also usual on Lincoln LS. Furthermore, the vehicle has tendency to tilt to one side and bounce while driving. Burnt oil smell and clunking noises also keep torture drivers.
