  A: Before removing the front shaft, remove the rear one in a two-piece driveshaft. Make sure you jack up the vehicle and secure it well. Match the driveshaft to the mating flange of the rear axle assembly. Unbolt Universal Joint clamps or drive shaft flange from differential pinion flange. Pry away the universal joint and remove the shaft. Lower rear end of the driveshaft. As a one-piece unit push front end out of the transmission extension housing. Put plastic bag around extension housing. Take off the bag and clean area. Check the oil seal and center support bearing visually. Insert driveshaft into the extension housing of the transmission or transfer case with its front end first. Raise the back end of the driveshaft in position and fix clamps with fasteners.
