- A:To remove and clean the coolant reservoir, start by draining the cooling system and disconnecting the reservoir hose. Then, remove the mounting nuts and lift the reservoir out of the engine compartment. Clean the reservoir with soapy water and a brush, checking for any cracks that may require replacement. To reinstall, follow the reverse steps of removal, including draining the cooling system and disconnecting the hoses. Remove the mounting nuts and lift out the reservoir.
