Four-cylinder models require the detachment of the battery cable from the negative terminal, followed by raising and securely supporting the vehicle on jackstands. The underbody cover should be removed, and then the starter motor solenoid wire nut and starter motor battery cable nut should be disconnected, along with both wires from the starter. The ground wire should be disconnected from the starter mounting stud, and the mounting stud bolts should be removed to take out the starter. For installation, the process is reversed, and the starter mounting stud bolts should be tightened securely. V6 models involve additional steps, such as removing the air filter housing and the left-hand air filter housing outlet pipe for 2.7L engines. On 3.5L and 3.7L engines, the transaxle shift cable should be disconnected, and the transaxle shift lever nut and lever should be removed. The starter motor solenoid wire nut and starter motor battery cable nut should be removed, along with both wires from the starter motor. The starter motor mounting fasteners should be removed, and then the starter motor can be taken out. The installation process is the reverse of removal.
