To remove the fuel rail, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. For four-cylinder models, remove the intake manifold and power steering pump. Disconnect the high pressure fuel lines and electrical connectors for the fuel injectors. Clean the area around each injector and remove the fuel rail and injectors. For 2.7L V6 models, remove the intake manifold and cowl panel. Clean the area around the fuel injectors and remove the high-pressure fuel pump cover. Disconnect the fuel injector harness connectors and remove the fuel rail. For 3.5L and 3.7L models, remove the upper intake manifold and disconnect the fuel rail supply hose. Remove the insulators covering the fuel rails and clean the area around the fuel injectors. Disconnect the fuel injector harness connectors and remove the fuel rail. To install the fuel rail, coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil and clean the injector bores. Install the fuel injectors to the fuel rail using new injector clips. Press firmly to seat the injectors when installing the fuel rail to the engine. For 2.0L and 2.7L models, do not lubricate the injector Teflon seals before installing the fuel rail and injectors. Secure the fuel rail assembly with the retaining bolts and check for leaks. To replace the fuel injector seals, remove and discard the upper O-rings. If using special tools, install the Teflon lower seals on the injectors. If not using special tools, work the new Teflon seal onto a socket and slide it onto the injector. Push a piece of plastic tubing onto the socket to shrink the seal back to its original size. Install a new support ring and lubricate the upper O-ring before installing it on the injector. For V6 models, remove the injector clips and O-rings, lubricate the new O-rings, and install the injectors to the fuel rail.
