Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 1979 and earlier models, detach the wiper arms from the pivot shafts. Remove the left (driver's) side cowl screen for access to the motor drive arm linkage. Remove the retaining clip and disconnect the drive arm from the wiper linkage. Disconnect the electrical connectors, remove the retaining bolts and lift the motor out. Rotate the motor as you lift it out so the wiper drive arm will clear the firewall opening. After making sure the wiper motor drive arm is in the parked position, installation is the reverse of removal. For 1980 and later models, remove the rear hood seal and the wiper motor housing cover. Pull off the rear hood seal weatherstripping, use a small screwdriver to detach each of the wiper housing clips. On 1998 and later models, remove the cowl covers first. Remove the wiper motor retaining bolts. Remove the clip from the wiper motor and disconnect the wiper linkage drive arm from the motor. Use a small screwdriver to pry off the clip, then detach the wiper arm from the motor. Disconnect the electrical connector and lift the wiper motor from the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal.
