Remove the bolts attaching the fan shroud to the radiator and position the shroud back over the fan. Remove the fan/clutch assembly and the shroud. Remove the drivebelts. Mark the crankshaft pulley and vibration damper so they can be reassembled in the same relative position to each other. This is important, since the damper and pulley are initially balanced as a unit. Unbolt and remove the pulley. Remove the bolt from the front of the crankshaft. Mark the pulley and vibration damper before removing the four pulley bolts - the large vibration damper bolt is usually very tight, so use a six-point socket and a breaker bar to loosen it. You'll most likely have to prevent the crankshaft from turning. Remove the torque converter access cover and wedge a large screwdriver between the teeth of the starter ring gear, allowing the screwdriver to rest against the transmission housing. Use a puller to detach the vibration damper. Lubricate the oil seal contact surface of the vibration damper hub with multi-purpose grease or clean engine oil, then Install the damper on the end of the crankshaft. The keyway in the damper must be aligned with the Woodruff key in the crankshaft nose. If the damper cannot be seated by hand, slip the large washer over the bolt, install the bolt and tighten it to pull the damper into place. An alternative method that can be used is to use a soft face/dead blow hammer or a wood block and a steel hammer to drive the damper into place. The remaining installation steps are the reverse of removal. Add coolant and check the oil level. Run the engine and check for oil and coolant leaks.

The keyway in the damper must be aligned with the Woodruff key in the crankshaft nose.
