- A:1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.2. Drain the cooling system and consider reusing the coolant if it is still in good condition.3. For V6 models, disconnect the alternator harness bracket. For 2003 and earlier V8 models, remove the engine trim cover.4. Trace the upper radiator hose to the engine to find the thermostat housing.5. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the deteriorated hose if necessary.6. If the thermostat housing cover shows signs of corrosion or damage, replace it.7. For V6 and V8 models, remove the fasteners, detach the thermostat cover, note its orientation, and then remove the thermostat.8. Reattach the radiator hose and ensure the hose clamp is snug.11.
