- A:To remove the brake light switch on 2004 through 2008 models, start by disconnecting the electrical connector from the switch. Then, remove the retaining pin cover and pin to release the switch from the brake pedal arm. Slide out the bushing and remove the switch and pushrod from the brake pedal. To install the brake light switch, first install the pushrod, then the switch, followed by the bushing, retaining pin, and cover onto the brake pedal. Finally, connect the switch electrical connector. For 2009 and later models, begin by disconnecting the electrical connector from the switch. Rotate the brake light switch clockwise about 1/8 turn and remove it from the bracket. To reinstall, simply reverse the removal steps.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
