The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) for the manual transaxle is located on the right rear corner of the transaxle, above the inner CV joint for the right driveaxle. To replace it, first raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, then remove the engine undercover. Disconnect the electrical connector from the VSS and remove the mounting bolt to take out the old VSS. Don't forget to discard the old VSS O-ring and use a new one when installing the new VSS. For the automatic transaxle, specifically the FNRS (5-speed) transaxle, there are three speed sensors: the ISS (Intermediate Shaft Speed) sensor, the TSS (Turbine Shaft Speed) sensor, and the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor. The ISS and TSS sensors are located on top of the transaxle, with the TSS sensor being the forward unit and the ISS sensor being the rear unit. The OSS sensor is located near the lower left rear corner of the transaxle. The procedure for replacing these sensors is the same. If you're replacing the OSS sensor, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, then remove the engine undercover. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor and remove the mounting bolt to take out the old sensor. Discard the old sensor O-ring and use a new one when installing the new sensor. However, for the 6-speed automatic transaxle, the speed sensors are integral components of the transaxle assembly and cannot be replaced at home.
