On VB engine models, it is necessary to remove and install the power steering pump pulley. This requires special tools that can be found at most auto parts stores. To do this, start by removing the drivebelt. Then, raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. On V8 engine models, remove the power steering pump pulley using a pulley removal tool. Position a drain pan under the power steering pump and disconnect the pressure and return hoses, plugging them to prevent contaminants from entering. Remove the small shield covering the pulley, if equipped. Remove the pump mounting fasteners and take care not to spill fluid on painted surfaces when removing the pump from the engine compartment. To reinstall, use a new seal on the pressure line fitting and tighten the pressure line fitting and pump mounting bolts to the specified torque. On V8 engine models, use a special tool to reinstall the pulley onto the pump shaft, avoiding the use of a hammer or traditional press. Finally, fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the system according to the procedure described.
