- Q:How do you remove the power steering pump? Posted by Customer
- A:To remove the power steering pump, start by removing the drivebelt. Then, use a special pulley removal tool to remove the power steering pump pulley. Place a drain pan under the pump and disconnect the pressure and feed hoses, plugging them to prevent contaminants from entering. Remove the pressure line mounting bracket and move the line away from the pump. Depending on the model, remove the mounting fasteners and lift the pump from the mounting bracket or remove the wiring harness retainer, pressure line bracket mounting nut, and bracket from the stud bolt, and then remove the mounting fasteners to lift the pump from the side of the engine. During installation, use a new seal on the pressure line fitting and tighten the fitting and pump mounting bolts. Use a special pulley installation tool to press the pulley onto the pump shaft. Finally, fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the system.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
