To remove the differential on 2004 and earlier models, start by raising the rear of the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Remove the driveshaft and driveaxles. Then, remove the bolt securing the differential bracket to the subframe and the three bolts securing the differential mass damper. Disconnect the electrical connector at the top of the differential. Support the rear of the differential with a floor jack and remove the four bolts securing it to the mounting brackets. Loosen the bolts securing the brackets-to-subframe, rotate the brackets, and carefully remove the differential. For installation, follow the reverse steps, making sure to install all the mass damper bolts finger tight first and then tightening them in the proper sequence. On 2005 and later models, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the spare tire, rear driveaxles, and driveshaft. Place a floor jack under the differential and tie it securely. Disconnect the wiring and remove the differential front mounting brackets. With the assistance of someone stabilizing the differential, remove the three rear mounting bolts, lower the differential, and remove it. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all fasteners are tightened.
