To remove the A/C switch from the instrument panel, first, remove the center dash bezel around the A/C switch and radio. Then, locate and remove the four screws that secure the A/C switch to the instrument panel. Carefully pull the A/C switch out of the dash, ensuring not to damage any electrical connectors or vacuum harness. Disconnect the electrical connectors and vacuum harness from the A/C switch, being cautious not to crack the plastic connectors and cause a vacuum leak. If your vehicle has the optional Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) system, it contains its own microprocessor and has additional function switches on the steering wheel and dashboard. For models with manual air conditioning, you can remove the blower motor speed switch, function selector, and blend-control switch from the control head by pressing plastic tabs at the back of the control head and pulling the switches off, allowing the knobs to fall off the front side of the controls. In certain Navigator and Expedition models, there may be a rear-mounted heating/air-conditioning system with separate controls for the rear system. To reinstall, follow the reverse of the removal procedure. Be careful during installation to ensure all electrical connectors and vacuum lines are properly connected to avoid any issues.
