- A:The evaporator is mounted inside the heater housing and requires removal of the instrument panel. Unbolt the heater unit assembly from the firewall to remove the evaporator. For 2008 and later models, detach the wiring harness and remove the lower radiator cross member. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser and support the cooling module.
