- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On 1.5L and 1.6L models, lift the engine cover up and off of the ballstuds, then remove the cover. On 1.6L models, disconnect the electrical connectors for all wiring that shares the harness with the ignition coils and fuel injectors, then remove the insulator fasteners and insulator from the top of the valve cover. On 2.0L models remove the air filter housing inlet tube. On 2.7L V6 engines, remove the engine cover fasteners and cover, then disconnect the three quick connect fittings and move the EVAP hoses out of the way for the front (left) bank coils. To access the rear (right) bank coils, remove the right hand air filter housing outlet pipe. On 3.5L engines, remove the engine cover fasteners and cover, then disconnect the PCV quick connect fitting and move the hose out of the way. To access the rear (right) bank coils, remove the upper intake manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil. Remove the mounting fastener from the ignition coil. Grasp the coil firmly and pull it off the spark plug. Installation is the reverse of removal.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
