To replace the EVAP canister purge valve on a four-cylinder engine, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the engine cover. Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the canister purge valve and the EVAP line quick-connect fittings. Remove the purge valve mounting stud bolts or mounting bracket nuts and bracket, and remove the assembly. For V6 engines, follow the same steps but also disconnect the EVAP line quick-connect fitting. On 2014 and earlier models and 3.5L V6 models, remove the purge valve mounting bolts and remove the valve. On 2015 and later 2.7L models, unclip the purge valve from the mounting bracket and remove the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal, using a new O-ring. To replace the EVAP canister, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the vehicle securely on jackstands. Remove the splash shield fasteners and shield, if equipped. For 2015 and later models, lower the rear differential assembly and subframe. Disconnect the electrical connector and vapor hose from the EVAP canister vent solenoid dust separator. Disconnect the two EVAP line quick-connect fittings from the canister. Remove the mounting fasteners and remove the canister. Installation is the reverse of removal. To replace the EVAP canister vent solenoid and dust separator assembly, remove the EVAP canister and the heat shield. Disconnect the vapor hose and electrical connector from the vent solenoid. On 2014 and earlier models, detach the vent solenoid and dust separator assembly from the canister. On 2015 and later models, rotate the vent solenoid clockwise and pull it out of the canister. Installation is the reverse of removal.
