Q:
What steps are involved in the removal of shock absorbers for the 1992 Ford Crown Victoria, and what additional components are addressed in this process? Posted by Customer
A:
For 2003 and later models, remove the three shock absorber upper mounting nuts, the brake caliper, and the brake disc. Additionally, remove the upper and lower stabilizer bar links. Remove the upper balljoint nut and separate the control arm from the steering knuckle. Finally, remove the lower mounting bolt and the shock absorber/coil spring assembly from the front end of the vehicle.

Q:
How should the shock absorbers be inspected for leaks, and what should be done if leakage is observed for the 2010 Ford Crown Victoria? Posted by Customer
A:
Raise the vehicle, support it securely on jackstands, and check the shock absorbers for evidence of fluid leakage. A light film of fluid is generally not a concern. If leakage is noted, replace the shocks as a set.

Q:
What steps should I follow for shock absorber installation for the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria? Posted by Customer
A:
Ensure that all air is expelled from the new shock absorber by extending and compressing it several times before placing the inner washer and rubber insulator on the shock piston rod. Insert the rod through the upper mounting hole in the frame, attach the outer insulator, washer, and a new stud retaining nut on the upper side of the frame, making sure the insulator "pilots" engage properly in the frame attaching holes. Tighten the nut to the specified torque.

Q:
What should I do for the 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis with automatic leveling rear suspension and coil springs? Posted by Customer
A:
Allow the rear axle to hang freely until the shock absorbers finish venting through the compressor. Support the rear axle with a floor jack to prevent it from dropping when the shock absorbers are disconnected.
